About John Hunter Hospital
John Hunter Hospital is the principal referral hospital for the Hunter region and much of Northern NSW, covering a vast geographic catchment. It is a major teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Newcastle and offers tertiary-level services including a dedicated trauma centre. The ED handles the highest volume of emergency presentations outside of metropolitan Sydney.
