A telehealth GP can assess your symptoms, provide a clinical opinion, and recommend a treatment plan for many common conditions. If a physical examination is needed for diagnosis, your GP will advise you to attend an in-person appointment.
What can a telehealth GP prescribe for my condition?
Telehealth GPs can prescribe most medications available through a standard GP consultation, including antibiotics, inhalers, topical treatments, mental health medications, and more. Schedule 8 controlled substances cannot be prescribed via telehealth.
Is a telehealth consultation bulk billed?
For eligible Medicare cardholders, NewDoc telehealth consultations are bulk billed with no out-of-pocket cost. Prescriptions, medical certificates, and referrals are all included.
Can I get a referral to a specialist for my condition?
Yes. Your telehealth GP can refer you to any specialist, including dermatologists, psychiatrists, cardiologists, ENT specialists, and more. Referrals are sent electronically and are valid for 12 months.
