FAQs

What is bulk billed telehealth?

Bulk billed telehealth means you can see a GP via video or phone call with no out-of-pocket cost if you hold a valid Medicare card and are in an eligible area. All NewDoc doctors have completed specialist GP training. Your GP can prescribe medication via eScript, issue medical certificates, order blood tests and imaging, write specialist referrals, and create Mental Health Treatment Plans. Scripts, certificates, and referrals are included at no additional cost.

What services can I access through telehealth?

Through NewDoc telehealth, you can access a range of GP services including repeat prescriptions (eScripts sent to your phone), medical certificates for work, school, or university, specialist and allied health referrals, pathology and imaging referrals, mental health consultations, and sexual health consultations. All consultations are conducted by AHPRA-registered, FRACGP-qualified General Practitioners.

Is the appointment really bulk billed?

Yes, NewDoc telehealth appointments are bulk billed for eligible Medicare cardholders with no out-of-pocket cost. Eligibility depends on your location and Medicare status under current telehealth provisions. Most of Australia is covered. You can check your eligibility when making a booking. Medical certificates and prescriptions issued during the consultation are included in the bulk billed appointment at no additional charge.

How quickly can I book an appointment?

NewDoc offers same-day telehealth appointments. You can book online in under 2 minutes by completing a quick questionnaire and selecting an available time with one of our GPs. Appointments are available from 8am to 11pm, 7 days a week.

Are the doctors Australian-registered?

Yes, all NewDoc doctors are Australian-trained, AHPRA-registered General Practitioners who hold full Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP). NewDoc exclusively uses qualified GPs, not nurse practitioners, for all consultations.

How does telehealth work?

Telehealth at NewDoc works in three simple steps. First, complete a quick online questionnaire and book a time that suits you. Second, connect with your AHPRA-registered GP via secure video or phone call from wherever you are. Third, receive your scripts, medical certificates, referrals, or other documents directly to your phone or email. The entire process can be completed from home, work, or anywhere in Australia.
