Clinical experience and areas of interest
Dr. Yu brings over a decade of general practice experience to NewDoc. His clinical interests include allergies and hay fever, metabolic health, the evidence base for natural medicines alongside conventional care, mental health care planning, and the ongoing management of chronic conditions. Every telehealth consultation he provides follows Australian general practice standards and RACGP guidelines.
Chief Medical Officer at NewDoc
As Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Yu is accountable for the clinical standards of the NewDoc telehealth service. This includes the clinical protocols and documentation standards the team works to (for prescriptions, medical certificates, referrals, and care plans), and the accuracy of every health article published on this site. Individual clinical decisions in each consult remain the responsibility of the treating GP.
Every condition guide, service explainer, and blog post is medically reviewed before publication and on at least an annual cycle. Where Medicare items, PBS listings, or clinical guidelines change, the affected pages are reviewed sooner. Our full process is described in the NewDoc Editorial Policy.

Approach to care
Good general practice starts with listening. Dr. Yu's consultations focus on understanding each person's individual circumstances, reviewing relevant history, explaining options clearly, and agreeing on a plan together. Where telehealth is not the right setting, such as when an in-person examination, specialist referral, or emergency care is needed, that pathway is explained and arranged, not avoided.
NewDoc's wider commitment is to make bulk billed general practice easy to access from anywhere in Australia. You can read more about how the service works on our bulk billed telehealth and telehealth appointment pages.
