About six in ten presentations sought clinical care for a health problem; the rest were continuing-care services such as repeat scripts and certificates. Respiratory and ENT illness led clinical care-seeking heading into the southern winter, consistent with the seasonal pattern general practice expects in autumn.
What this tracker deliberately does not publish
Shares are percentages of the month's classified pre-consultations, derived from de-identified summaries with no clinical records exposed. Absolute consultation volumes, growth rates, and the fine-grained sub-category taxonomy are not published, and category movements are reported without commercial commentary. Editions appear one month or more after the data month. The top ten categories are shown; smaller categories make up the remainder.
Methodology and reuse
Each pre-consultation summary is classified into a coarse category using the same conventions as the State of Online GP in Australia report, which also documents the taxonomy's limitations. Categories mix body-system groups with continuing-care services (prescription renewals, certificates, referrals, tests) because both reflect real reasons for presenting. Classification is purpose-first: a consult counts toward a clinical category only when the patient sought care for the problem itself, while consults booked solely for a document or service are reported under the service category, even when an illness is named as the reason for it. Journalists and researchers are welcome to reuse the tracker with attribution and a link.
